Whether you just want a short flight to experience the thrill of flying in an open-cockpit biplane or your budget allows you to fly for longer, we will be able to make your flight special. We provide you with leather jackets and a flying helmet. We suggest wearing sunglasses and bringing a smartphone to record your smiles with a "selfie"! Our company
We are unique!
Aviation Adventures Ltd is the only company fully licenced by the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand to operate open-cockpit biplanes as an Air Transport Operator. In other words, we hold the same certification as Air New Zealand!
The company has been operating in the Mackenzie Basin and the Aoraki Mt Cook region since 2009. We have flown thousands of passengers over the stunning turquoise-coloured lakes of the region, as well as the largest glaciers and mountains in the country.
We are passionate about flying but we get even greater satisfaction in sharing this beautiful region with clients. Come and share the fun!
Our aircraft
The mighty Grumman Ag-Cat.
Aviation Adventures own the only two airworthy radial-engined Ag-Cats in New Zealand. We have owned our red Grumman Ag-Cat biplane for over 12 years and it has proven to be a dependable and strong workhorse - ideally suited to flying in the Mackenzie Basin. In March 2022, we added a second Ag-Cat to our fleet. Each biplane carries two passengers in addition to the pilot. This means you can share the fun with a friend or family member!
